The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mr. Imran Khan, on Wednesday, July 26, 2020 has made a statement on the necessity to develop national industry and active refocusing the economic strategy“Make in Pakistan” in order to reduce the import of goods from abroad. "Our Government is carrying out the policy “Make in Pakistan” to promote the country's export-oriented industrialization over the past two years, our efforts have been aimed onpursuing this goal through various government support measures, in particular in the field of ease doing business,the Prime Minister said during a meeting held with a delegation of leading exporters from various sectors, including poultry farming, rice and fruit growers, information technology, pharmaceuticals and textiles.
Recognizing the crucial role of exports in the national economy, including job creation and youth employment, the Prime Minister saidthat the government intends to provide exporters with all possible benefits and eliminate bureaucratic barriers related to the export of goods and services.
He stressed that it is necessary to pay more attention for capitalizing the country's potential in export of services with active support and creating favorable business conditions.
The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction that Pakistan's economy is moving in the right direction, as the country recorded a current account surplus in July this yearand has consistently shown export growth after the global downturn caused by the Covid-19.
