On September 16, 2020 the expert of Trade Representation participated in the online meeting of the international economic forum “Golden Ring” experts, organized on the basis of the University of Lahore (Pakistan) in the format of a video conference.

The topic of the meeting was to discuss the restoration of economic cooperation and political interaction between Russia and Pakistan in the post-pandemic period. The online meeting was attended by representatives of the economic and scientific institutions of Pakistan and the Russian Federation, experts from Delovaya Rossiya, the Trade Representation and the Russian Embassy in Pakistan.

The speakers drew attention to the political and economic turmoil caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, which exposed the shortcomings of existing economic systems. The impact was particularly severe for poor and developing countries, some of which faced economic and financial crises, as well as health system failures. In this context, the representative of Pakistan mentioned the Statement of the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan on the need to introduce a moratorium on servicing (repayment) of the country's external debt to creditors.

The expertfrom the Trade Representation in his speech noted that after the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis, the government of the Russian Federation introduced system support measures to support the country's economy for the population and businesses, especially in the field of SME’s.
